What Is Community Forensic Social Work

Community forensic social work is work involving the justice system including probation, parole, good behavior releases, pretrial, and reentry.

For social workers, understanding that justice involvement continues beyond release into stabilization, reintegration, and recovery is crucial.

In community forensic social work, recovery extends beyond substance use treatment. Reentry is recovery. It involves rebuilding stability, identity, relationships, and a sense of purpose.
